You want to make sure that you are at a bank that gives you the most "free" stuff available. http://www.nasdaq.com/personal-finance/ins-outs-bank-fees.stm

Monday September 12, 2011 from the article: 8 Reasons Why You Are Getting an F in Personal Finance http://finance.yahoo.com/banking-budgeting/article/113463/money-mistakes-moneytalks I found this article and decided I think it would be a great article for the class to read. Here are some tips that they give and I"ll basically sum up the article and you guys can read the entire article on your own. If you are swimming in and debt and you are living paycheck to paycheck then more than likely you are earning an F in your Personal Finances. Here are some reasons why: 1. You don't have an emergency fund! Experts say you should have at least six months wages saved away for a rainy day or rainy months! 2. You have no idea at any given time how much is in your bank account. Most peope go throughout the days spending money and making money and have absolutely no idea what they've got in their account. Meaning they overdraft ~ or spend more than they currently have in their account. 3. You don't understand the difference between a need and want. We talked about this in class all decided that most of America don't differentiate between the two. Always ask yourself "Do I need this?" before you buy. 4. You don't have a clue what kind of money you spend each month on things like groceries, bills, gas, etc. What can fix this? Duh, a budget. 5. Your tastes exceed your spending limit. We all want nice things and don't like have to settle for less than nice. However more than likely your parents worked very hard for the things that they have aquired. So buckle down, work hard, save money, and someday you can own those nice things too. 6. You can't say no. This of course is an issue that could cause more than money problems, however if a friend is always asking you to do things and you can't say no start brainstorming on OTHER things you can do that won't cost you as much money. The best solution is to just be honest with your friend, if you are trying to cut back on spending let them know because more than likely they might agree with you and start saving money too! 7. You are in impulse shopper. I love the convienent aspect of Wal-Mart, however there are so many times I go into that store and come out with items I just bought because I saw them and liked them. If this happens to you, make a list and tell yourself you are going to ONLY by things on that list. 8. You worry what others think about you. Have you ever heard of the saying "Keeping up with the Jones's"? This means you are living a lifestyle just to impress people. You put a high value of worth on material things and not in yourself or family. If you love yourself and find happiness in simple things like relationships, family, friends, religion, nature, you don't need all the STUFF to make you happy. Friday August 25, 2011 Ok so almost a year later I've got the wiki up and running. This place will be an easy and fun way for you to look things up, discuss things with peers and me, and even give your own opinions on topics. This will be a new item I've added to the class this year. Technology basically runs every day to day operation in our world as we know it. You need to be able to navigate areas of the internet when your asked to; not only by me but also by your future employer. This will be part of your grade to contribute to the Wiki on a weekly basis. I will post topics for discussion and you will all leave a comment. You will receive points for doing this on a weekly basis. If you have questions feel free to ask me in class or send me an email to acreed@lebanon.k12.mo.us
